On December 13, 2012, a serious motorcycle accident in Tampa took place at Ashley Drive and Twiggs Street after 7:00 a.m. Thursday morning. According to police, a male motorcyclist was thrown from his motorcycle and seriously injured.

The motorcyclist has been identified as 50-year-old Peter Mitchell, of Strike the Gold Lane in Wesley Chapel. Tampa police reported that he was transported to Tampa General Hospital in critical condition; however, it was later learned that he was in stable condition.

The information released was that Mitchell was traveling southbound on Ashley Drive when a 1987 Toyota pickup truck was headed northbound. According to witnesses, the motorcycle and pickup truck entered the intersection of Ashley Drive and Twiggs Street at the same time when the crash occurred.

The driver of the pickup truck has been named as 54-year-old Kenneth Moore of South Tacon Street in Tampa. There is no information about whether or not he sustained any injuries in this crash. However, it was learned that he was issued a citation for driving with an expired license.

Tampa police are still investigating this accident and it is unclear who is at fault. The police are trying to obtain videos from local businesses that may help determine fault for this Tampa crash—a wreck that led to a road closure and left traffic backed up for hours during the morning rush hour.

Mallard Perez would like to wish the injured motorcyclist Mr. Mitchell a full and fast recovery from his injuries.
