On Friday morning, October 25, 2013, a fatal motorcycle collision in Bradenton occurred on Cortez Road. According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the crash involved a motorcycle and a car, and the wreck was reported at 7:49 a.m.

When rescue workers arrived at the accident scene, they found the motorcyclist dead. According to FHP Sergeant Herbert Head, the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has been confirmed as 21-year-old Jonathan Frye. Upon initial investigation, authorities determined that the motorcyclist was traveling west on Cortez Road when the driver of the other vehicle was headed east.

The eastbound driver attempted to make a turn onto Palma Sola Boulevard when the motorcycle and car collided. Immediately following this Bradenton motorcycle crash, witnesses gathered around the scene. Because of the severity of this collision, the roadway was blocked for several hours, which affected morning commute traffic. However, the crash was cleared by 10 a.m.

Investigators interviewed witnesses to determine the cause of the crash. Sgt. Head said, “We have three or four witnesses that we are interviewing to try and determine what color the lights were. Initially, it doesn’t appear to be speed.”

The driver of the car was an 89-year-old Bradenton man. He reported, “I never saw the man, I don’t even know what happened.”

The Sarasota accident attorneys of Mallard Perez would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased motorcyclist during this difficult time.
