A single car accident took the life of 81 year old Kasper Flueck. He was pulling a U-Haul trailer while driving his Mercury Mountaineer.

The accident happened near mile marker 216 at around 3:15 pm. The trailer he was pulling started to swerve, causing him to lose control. His vehicle jack-knifed and turned onto its side. The Mercury Mountaineer and the trained spanned both the left lane and the median emergency lane.

Kasper Flueck died at the scene. His passenger and wife, 70-year-old Rosetta Flueck, suffered minor injuries and was taken to Lakewood Ranch Medical Center. They both were wearing seat belts.

The crash caused extensive backups in both directions, as northbound traffic was reduced to just one lane for about three hours.
