On March 12, 2014, a fatal crash on 59th Street West in Bradenton occurred, and troopers believe the deadly accident might have occurred as a result of a medical issue. Sadly, a 63-year-old Bradenton man died.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a two-vehicle accident took place around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon. Investigators indicated that two vehicles were heading southbound on 59th Street West, just south of 43rd Avenue West and north of Cortez Road West when the wreck occurred. Both cars—a 2012 Nissan Cube and a 2012 Honda Civic—were in the outside left turn lane at the time of the accident.
Patricia Hyde, the driver of the Nissan Cube, slowed and brought her car to a stop for traffic, said officials. However, the man driving the Civic failed to stop. Troopers indicated that the man lost control of his car and that it could have been caused by some sort of medical event. As a result, the Civic crashed into the rear of the Cube. When that happened, the Cube was pushed forward into traffic and came to rest facing south in the outside left turn lane, south of 43rd Avenue West.
The driver of the Civic was taken to Blake Hospital where he was pronounced dead. His name has not been released at this time. However, authorities did indicate that he was a 63-year-old man from Bradenton.
No information was reported about whether or not the other driver sustained any injuries in this crash.
