A Sunday afternoon drive ended with serious injuries for four adults and turned deadly for an 8-year-old passenger. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a girl from Bradenton was killed in a two-vehicle Manatee County car crash on Sunday, August 4, 2013.

The girl was a passenger in a vehicle that was struck head-on. According to authorities, the driver of a 2008 Chrysler Aspen lost control of his vehicle on State Road 70 at Curtis Road. The Aspen was headed east on State Road 70 when it veered across the highway. It collided head-on into a 1999 Chevy Cavalier that was traveling in the opposite direction—the car the little girl was riding in.

The Cavalier driver, 43-year-old Kevin Moore, and adult passenger 42-year-old Melanie Proulx were both seriously injured. They were taken to Blake Medical Center for treatment.  Sadly, Sierra Proulx, their 8-year-old passenger, was killed during the crash.

Devin Gilmore, the 31-year-old driver of the Aspen, and his passenger, 29-year-old Allison Gilmore, also suffered serious injuries in the wreck and were also taken to an area hospital for medical care.

No updates have been provided regarding the status of the four adults. However, we do know that driver Devin Gilmore was charged with failure to use due care. The Florida Highway Patrol does not suspect alcohol as a factor in this crash.

Our Manatee County accident attorneys at Mallard Perez are saddened to hear of this tragic crash. We would like to wish the family and friends of Sierra Proulx strength to get through this difficult time, and we hope for full and fast recoveries for all those injured in this collision.
