On March 13, 2014, a fatal two-vehicle collision in Sarasota County occurred. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, this deadly crash on State Road 72 occurred late Thursday resulting in the death of one person and leaving another person with serious injuries.

The car accident took place around 11:00 p.m. on State Road 72 near Saddle Creek Trail, according to a statement released by the Florida Highway Patrol. Investigators determined that 64-year-old Raoul A. Webb, of Brandon, lost control of his car and suffered fatal injuries. According to the release, Webb—traveling in a 2004 Nissan 350Z—was heading eastbound on State Road 72 when he exited a right-hand curve and lost control of his car.

As a result of losing control, Webb’s Nissan veered to the left, spun counter-clockwise and traveled into the westbound lanes of traffic. Unfortunately, his car traveled into the path of a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado truck. The truck, driven by 21-year-old Edmund M. Maciejczyk, of Sarasota, struck the Nissan’s passenger side.

Troopers stated that Edmund M. Maciejczyk reported serious injuries and was taken to Doctors Hospital in Sarasota for medical care. Sadly, Raoul A. Webb died of his injuries in the car crash.

Mallard Perez would like to extend our deepest sympathies to Mr. Webb’s family and friends and extend our condolences during this tragic time. We would also like to wish Edmund M. Maciejczyk a full and fast recovery and best wishes during this difficult time.
