Heather Marie Younkman, age 33, of the 3400 block of University Parkway in Sarasota, is charged with hit-and-run following an accident occurring in Bradenton. The November 26th collision took place on 63rd Avenue West near the Bayshore Gardens Parkway at approximately 6:30 p.m. Ms. Younkman was traveling westbound when she veered into the eastbound lane, striking an oncoming vehicle.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Ms. Younkam attempted to flee the scene of the Sarasota hit-and-run accident. She kept driving following the crash, despite the damage to her vehicle. Only the rim remained on her left front wheel. Fortunately for the Highway Patrol, Ms. Younkman was not able to get very far. The car ultimately broke down in the 6000 block of 26th Street West. Sadly, the driver of the car that Ms. Younkman hit incurred injuries to the neck.

Following its investigation, the Florida Highway Patrol arrested Ms. Younkman and transported her to the Manatee County Jail where she currently remains. Her bail was set at $16,000. In addition to the hit-and-run charge, Ms. Younkman is also facing charges of driving while intoxicated and causing an accident with bodily injuries and property damages. Those charges relate to outstanding warrants from prior incidents.
