The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a hit-and-run accident on Bee Ridge Road that left a pedestrian seriously injured. According to authorities, this crash occurred early Saturday morning, December 28, 2013.

Police said a 20-year-old Sarasota man was walking along Bee Ridge Road, just west of Center Gate Boulevard, when a car hit him around 5:00 a.m. Investigators indicated that man was walking on the sidewalk when it appears that a vehicle drove up onto the sidewalk and hit him. The driver of the unidentified vehicle then drove away and left the man in serious condition.

The man was transported to Sarasota Memorial Hospital for medical care and has been identified as David Adam Cornell. The Florida Highway Patrol is still investigating this accident and would like anyone with information to call them at 239-938-1800.

Earlier in the month, a Parrish man was walking on a Sarasota road when he also was hit by a vehicle that sped away. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 37-year-old man was walking at Lockwood Ridge Road and 40th Street around 9:15 p.m. when this hit-and-run pedestrian accident took place.

The pedestrian was seriously injured and taken to Blake Medical Center for treatment. Investigators are asking anyone with any information on this case (reference # FHPF13OFF067870) to contact them at 239-938-1800.
