I suffered cartilage damage to my knee in a crash. How much is my motorcycle injury claim worth?

A:

A cartilage injury to the knee is often referred to as meniscus damage. When the meniscus tears, the cartilage tears and the knee isn’t supported or stable like it needs to be. Some meniscus tears are tiny, where other tears are complete tears that require surgery.

When meniscus damage occurs in a motorcycle accident, it is common that other damage has occurred such an ACL tear, MCL tear, ligament damage, muscle damage, knee cap damage, femur fracture, or a tibial fracture. The extent of your injury will determine the amount your case is worth. For example, if you only need to rest, ice, wear a knee brace, and take a couple days off of work, your claim will be far less than if you underwent surgery.

Claims that require surgery—even arthroscopic surgery—are very expensive claims that often involve physical therapy costs, prescription and medical device costs, and lost wages as a result of being out of work for months. If you spent time on crutches and went through rehabilitation following surgery, you most likely missed out on earning wages and benefits you should be compensated for.

To determine your case worth and to find out if you should receive compensation for your pain and suffering, loss of function, or other damages, your should speak with an experienced accident attorney or you should order a free copy of our book, What You Need to Know After a Florida Auto, Truck, or Bike Accident.
