Did Busy Holiday Travels Lead to Your Sarasota Auto Accident & Injury?
Due to the increase in vehicles on the road and many drivers in a hurry to get to their destinations, it is inevitable that more auto accidents in Florida and nationwide occur during the holiday season. In fact, a rash of accidents in Sarasota County did occur during the holiday travel period between Christmas and the New Year, leading to many serious injuries, critical injuries, and even fatal injuries.
According to Florida Highway Patrol Lt. Greg Bueno, “If drivers would just slow down, it would help avoid many accidents.”
Florida’s roadways are always more congested during the holidays. According to the AAA auto club, an estimated 4.3 million people in Florida traveled over 50 miles from home by car during this past holiday season. Because of the increased traffic, drivers need to be more careful on the roads during heightened traffic times in order to reach their destinations safely.
Some of the recent accidents in Sarasota and Manatee counties included:
- One North Port man lost control of his car because he was driving too fast and the car struck a large rock. He was flown to Blake Medical Center for medical care, but he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
- A Largo woman was killed when her car spun out of control and struck several trees.
- A Fort Myers Beach woman was killed in a Sarasota County crash when her car drifted into the next lane. She overcorrected and overturned the vehicle.
